(More customer reviews)I like the fact that this product has Mexoryl SX and XL, but there are parabens in this product. For those of you who don't want these garbage chemicals on your little one's skin, this is not the ideal sun protective lotion. I'm quite vexed that the ingredients listed on this web page does not show that this product does actually contain parabens; so, I was mislead by this description. I wanted this item because of the Mexoryl SX and XL, which are the ultimate UVA protectors for the skin. I will not be buying this particular item again! Some of the La Roche-Posay products are paraben free, so I'm going to stick to that brand. I love that brand and shouldn't have strayed to try another. Lesson learned!

(More customer reviews)I read an article concerning Helioplex and how it has been used in sunscreens/sunblocks in Europe for many years, and that it was going to be available in the United States. Being a resident of Arizona means I use a sunscreen/sunblock every day!! I searched for Neutrogena Sunblock with Helioplex in several stores (department, pharmacies, etc.) and no one carried any type of sunscreen with Helioplex. I tried Amazon (who always has everything I can't find locally), and ordered the SPF 45, 4 ounce tube. I really liked this product because it was not greasy like the sunblock I have been using and there is no odor, plus I feel it is good for my skin. Price-wise, it is no more expensive than most sunscreens. I plan to purchase this product again!

(More customer reviews)I bought this because they stopped making my favorite sunscreen DDF organic sunblock 30. It was the perfect sunscreen because it did not smell. This one smells very strongly of Coppertone and I can't stand having that smell all over my face. All my make up pads and brushes now smell like it too. I have stopped using it and am now on the look out (once again) to find a nice daywear sunscreen that can be used year around, with no smell, and does not clog pores. I am sure it does its job of protecting the face but it was pricey for a small bottle.

(More customer reviews)I bought this sunscreen after reading about its improved protection against both UV A and UV B.
I have no complaints about the sun protection - it seems to work, though of course a true test of protection is long-term sun damage avoidance, and not from a few days' use.
But I dont like the texture of the cream. First, it is not a lotion but a cream. By which I mean its semi-solid and does not blend well on the face. I tried using a lotion moisturizer blended with this sunscreen to make it blend better, but its not easy.
Second, the sunscreen is very whitish and looks that way even after applying very little of it. So if you are somewhat tanned and apply this cream it will show up in whitish streaks on your face that do not sink in.
I also tried applying mineral makeup on top of this to reduce the white-out look, but the camouflage does not work too well.
Third, the sunscreen is not marked as 'non-comedogenic (does not block pores) so that might be an important factor for you to consider if you tend to have large pores, whiteheads or blackheads.
Summary: if you are going to spend a long time in the sun and want a high performance sunscreen, use this one. If you want something more mild for daily use, try out the SPF 15 version of this same brand, or look elsewhere.

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a safe, effective sunsreen for my trip to Southeast Asia this summer. Here are what I think are the strengths and weaknesses for this product
Strengths:
1, Many non-chemical sunscreens actually fail to live up to their SPF, but I do think it successfully protected my skin in the worst UV environment. (But I also used hats and such)
2, It is relatively safe for my skin. It didn't make my skin break out.
Weaknesses:
1, THE greasiest sunscreen I ever experienced. It's ok when you're out hiking or at the beach, but when I went out to see friends, they often commented on how much I was "sweating." When I really did sweat, it made the cream turn white and visible (dotty on my face).
2, As it's noted on Skin Deep Cosmetic safety database, it's not perfectly safe. While I didn't have any breakouts, my face (not my body) got itchy wearing this. But I was able to get around it by putting on a moisturizer before applying this.
3, It's pretty tough to wash off. Though it's not waterproof, after I washed my body I could still smell it and see it on my skin (showing up white especially in wrinkly area).
Despite the problems, I think I might use it again next summer (at least on my body) because I haven't been able to find a better safe, high SPF sunscreen. Other ones don't make my face shiny but make my face look all white.

(More customer reviews)This version of "Anthelios" does not contain mexoryl, which is the most effective UV-A blocking agent. Don't buy this version of "Anthelios;" instead, look at the other Anthelios products that DO contain mexoryl. If you want a non-mexoryl sunscreen (which I don't recommend, since they are less effective against UV-A), then go with the Neutrogena productd that contain "helioplex," The lower SPF "dry touch" versions are reasonably effective, feel better on the skin than any other sunscreen I've tried, and are way cheaper than this product.
Having said that, the mexoryl-based sunscreens are more effective than the Neutrogena, so are probably worth the extra cost. Bear in mind that UV-A causes cancer, but not sunburn. A sunscreen that protects against sunburn, is not an effective anti-cancer agent unless it also protects against UV-A. Most sunscreens that claim UV-A protection only provided it for half an hour or so. Mexoryl, on the other hand, lasts several hours.
