(More customer reviews)I'm a major sunscreen freak. I've worn it every day since I was 13 (I'm now 32). So...this means I have a lot of dedication to sun protection and probably a higher threshold of tolerance for products that are thick and potentially tricky to apply. I'm also a cheapskate and a stickler for formulas that do not contain harmful chemicals. I'd finally given up trying to find an inexpensive natural sunblock that was waterproof, chemical-sunscreen and paraben-free, and sheer enough to wear on the face. So, I ponied up and purchased the Verdure physical sunscreen out of desperation. I only use it on my face and use a blend of a couple cheaper products on my neck, ears, chest, and hands (Neutrogena's latest chemical-free baby formulation and a product by Beyond Coastal). Because I'm using the Verdure sunblock so selectively, it's lasted quite well, though I do make an effort to coat my face adequately. This product is very sheer, has almost no odor, is as easy to apply as basic facial moisturizer, and it does seem to resist tears and sweat nicely. I'm quite pale, so I only wear a bit of medium bronzer to warm up my face a bit, but a person who is not pale might want to mix just a miniscule dab of dark foundation with this product before applying to make it flesh-toned rather than white. I live in a desert, so I do need to apply moisturizer a couple of minutes before applying this product, but the combination seems to work well. I'm so pleased with the efficacy of the product (I spend about an hour outside per day as part of my job and haven't noticed new freckling or detectable sun damage) and how sheer and undetectable it is on my face, I plan to wear this from now on. Yes, it's expensive, but I've had it with trying to finesse thicker formulations that are cheaper and winding up with cakey-looking skin. I highly recommend this product.
