(More customer reviews)I am very pleased with this product. Wish it were readily available in Australia, where we need the higher factor. When I wear our top SPF 30+ sunscreen, I can feel the sun burning through. I do not feel it with this product, and have recommended it to quite a lot of people. My doctor put me on to its availability, the only problem is getting larger quantities of it in the one purchase.

(More customer reviews)I chose this product because we have a 7 month old baby & a 10 year old with fair skin. we are generally outside on the weekends and we love the beach. After reading an article published by the Environmental Working Group on sunscreen toxicity, I decided to go with a more natural product. Alba Botanica Kids SPF 45 gets a 5 on their scale which puts it smack in the middle. This rating seems based primarily on their assessment that the UVA/UVB protection. The EWG found that this product provides quite a bit more UVB protection than UVA. That said, it has all vegetarian ingredients, the bulk of which are deemed safe by the EWG, and Alba does not test on animals. It is also free of parabens.
On first application there is a pleasant cucumber scent, and the texture of the lotion is very generous - a little goes a long way. To my relief it does not leave the skin feeling tacky or sticky. It seems to absorb quickly, and after it is applied there's a familiar sunscreen scent.
So far we have found it to be droolproof, and quite sweat proof. It did not irritate our baby's skin or eyes, since he rubs his eyes when he's tired, I've been particularly wary of eye irritation.
If you are in and out of the water, it will need to be reapplied a couple of times during the day, but for regular outdoor activities it holds up very well on the entire family. And hey, it's the official sunscreen of the New York Mets!
Overall a solid product that does what it claims and seems a good value.

It's not too thick, spreads easily, doesn't leave you greasy, and the smell goes away in minutes.

(More customer reviews)I've tried many products. Standard products like Neutrogena dry and irritate my skin, and I am concerned about the chemicals in products like Aveeno. I have tried many "health food" brands - some are too thin to be protective, some are way too greasy and too difficult to wash off, some are too goopy, some have too strong and unpleasant an odor, and almost none of them claim to be "waterproof".
My husband burns easily through many of the "health food" brands, but he has used this product with success even during water activities near the equator in summertime. I have used this product on my face on top of lighter sunscreens, just for extra protection from heavy sun exposure and find that it did not cause me to burn or break out (maybe one small pimple after 7 days of piling on a couple of layers of it throughout the day while biking through the south of France and sweating heavily). For awhile I couldn't find this product on the shelf because they had repackaged it. I was so disappointed and never found a better product in the meantime. I am thrilled to see that it is back!!!

It protects even when you swim, though I do recommend reapplying after prolonged swimming just to be on the safe side. It has a mild, pleasant scent and is not greasy. This is a good daily sunscreen.
