(More customer reviews)After reading studies last summer that indicated that many standard, chemical based sunscreens actually accelerate cancerous tumor growth, I started a search for a mineral based sunscreen that would be effective and somewhat affordable. After much research, I settled on the mineral sunscreens from Alba botanicals.
My kids spent last summer with my wife in the Colorado Mountains where the sun can be incredibly harsh and they used this sunscreen every day. We noticed that:
-This stuff is thick and hard to rub in.
-It is greasy
-Nobody got sunburned, even with prolonged sun exposure but we sure did get TAN!
All in all, this isn't as easy to use as traditional sunblock or spray-on, but if it works better to the extent that studies suggest I am a very happy customer.

I took a leap of faith that it would work and fell in love with powder sunscreens.
I was thrilled to find Go!screen (which is 1/2 the price AND better quality than the original powder block that I had bought). The all natural sunscreen powder is both economical and comes with an applicator that works well -- it is also re-fillable, making it eco-friendly too (good for our family and the environment). This is the first sunscreen that my kids don't mind using...with a quick brush across their faces, they are good to go. I also love it for me...the non-greasy powder is particularly great when I am playing tennis and sweating in boot camp. Two thumbs up for Go!screen!

(More customer reviews)This is a great product that goes on fairly easily (for a Titanium dioxide lotion -- they are all somewhat hard to rub in). It smells good, and it seems to work. But 2 ounces for $10? Seriously? I ordered 3 tubes, and had not really registered how small an amount of product 2 ounces was until we got it. The kids like it, but it'll be used up in a week or two, since they are out all day and have to reapply at least once. Can titanium dioxide really be that expensive to make?

BurnOut SPF 30+ KIDS Physical Sunscreen Review

(More customer reviews)We tried Burnout along with Blue Lizard and Hara after learning a bit from the Environmental Working Group's 2010 sunscreen reviews on toxicity. Burnout was the most expensive but did the best job. We were in full August sun for two weeks at the Jersey shore. No reapplication necessary from what we noticed and we never burned. Easier to apply than Hara and Blue Lizard and no smell whatsoever.
