(More customer reviews)I received this lotion in a gift pack containing in addition to the lotion a shower gel, a candle and a loofah mitt. (Don't ask about the loofah mitt - the hemp was so rough that it actually scraped).
This is an okay lotion. The addition of lavender and Shea Butter sounds good, but I can't find the proportions of either on the bottle. The lavender fragrance is very muted, and doesn't really smell wonderful such as in say, L'Occitane. Somehow, due the moisturizing effectiveness I wonder if there isn't quite enough Shea Butter included.
On the plus side it is a very generous 16 oz. bottle for not very much money. (Who was it who said you get what you pay for?)

1. I love the smell of lavender--it's a very soothing and relaxing scent.
2. It has SPF 15 or 18--perfect for daily use and, after having had skin cancer, a real need for me.
3. It's organic and not tested on animals--less 'chemically' than run of the mill moisturizers.
After 2 weeks of daily (1-2x day) use, I was concerned that the oils used would cause breakouts--my skin has actually gotten better after using this lotion! I had suffered for many many years with folliculitis (infected hair follicle) in my eyebrows--that has almost completely cleared up in 2 weeks of using this, more than YEARS of topical antibiotics have ever helped! Even though I grow lavender in my garden (lavender stalks keep birdbaths cleaner longer), I had forgotten the antiseptic qualities it has, which I never correlated to actually clearing up my skin. I have also used the lavender hand and body lotion, which also smells fantastic, but doesn't seem to have the 'staying power' the facial moisturizer has. I am definitely going to be getting more of the Avalon Organics Lavender products to keep my skin looking and feeling great!

(More customer reviews)I've only had this product for about a week now, but I must say it definitely does a better job than my department store bought hand lotion. The smell is a bit strong at first, though not bad (seems kinda citrus-y), but it wears off quickly. Keeps my hands soft and smooth for a good amount of time during the day before having to put more on as well.
The price may be a bit high if you are used to buying the big bottles of cheap lotion from the store, but you really don't have to use as much of this or use it as often in my opinion so it is a very solid product. It also provides much better performance in my opinion. I intend to purchase more of this product and continue using it.

(More customer reviews)This face lotion is one of the best moisturizers I've ever used. I bought it before Clean and Clear discontinued it (ugh), and once I finished that bottle, I thought that was the end...but I found a bottle at Big Lots, along with the other products of this line.
There are no cons for this product. I have oily skin, but I still like to use SPF, which typically makes oily skin oilier. Not this lotion, however. It absorbs so nicely, makes my skin look better, and doesn't leave me shiny at all. I don't know what I'll do when I finish the bottle I have now; I'm hoping to chance upon another bottle like I did before or try another Clean and Clear lotion since this one works so well.

(More customer reviews)I LOVE Zia products. This moisture screen with spf is amazing and it never feels like anything is on your face, which is something i can't stand at all. No scent either, so you don't smell like something gross.
I'm not in love with the new packaging choice though. The pump, regardless of brand, always leaves lotion you cannot get to in the bottom. I try in vain, but there always remains some of the waste. I liked the canister better, as I could dose with my finger and I got every last drop out.
Love the product, mixed on the new pump packaging.

(More customer reviews)I use this product daily now after I use my face wash. The face wash that I use daily dries my skin out considerably and my skin drinks the purpose lotion like water. My skin feels healthier and retains it's moisture throughout the day and the sun does not bake my face when I am outside working for a few hours.
I also have very sensitive skin and this product causes no redness, itching, or burning. Some lotion that I would use would cause my face to breakout. The purpose lotion seems to come on thin enough that my face breathes better as well. My girlfriend introduced me to purpose and it is the only lotion I will use on my face now.

I changed my rating from 5 to 3 because I found that over time my skin began to react to the lotion causing red rashes that would last a few days but then clear. Since I'm prone to skin allergies, I didn't associate it to the product right away as I had started off so well using it daily without any problem - for me, I generally get a reaction right away if I have a sensativity to a product so I thought I had hit gold. Though my skin had a good first response to the product, in the end I had to stop using it as well as the face cream version which also caused the same allergic rashing under the eyes. So in general it was ok for occational use, but, in a daily use situation, I had problems with it over time. I can't recommend it anymore for that reason but as I note below, I've had allergic reactions to all the other SPF products as well. This one I had the least reaction to, but in the end, I had a bad reaction from daily use.
Initial review:
I was looking for SPF protection but have skin sensativities and had been allergic to everything I tried previously. My dematologist recomends Eucerin and I use several versions of the product regularly now and find it works better for me then anything else. Eucerin in general, feels a little greasy when it first goes on, but for me after about an hour is absorbed into the skin and is extremely effective in preventing cracking, drying, and irritations. It has NO fragrance added to it, which for me is essential. The SPF protection is a great idea and I was very glad to find this product. I'd recommend it to anyone with sensative skin looking for sun protection. This is light enough to where anytime, all day, going to work, etc., as a daily after shower moisturizer.

A good, practical moisturizer that both of us can use.

(More customer reviews)I have had good luck with this sunscreen. This product claims to cover a broader UV spectrum than most sunscreens. I have fair skin, and used this product in Florida this past spring and did not get burned.
As the other review stated, this is a thick sunscreen, and it starts off feeling greasy. The trick is that very little of the product is needed to be effective. Before rubbing onto the skin, this sunscreen must first be warmed and softened by spreading it between your fingers on both hands. If this isn't done, the product spreads very poorly, and you will go through a lot of it very quickly. As the manufacturer states, only the thinest layer of sunscreen is needed to block UV rays. It's thickness also keeps it from washing away from sweat or swimming. It has a consistency similar to hair styling mud; I did not find it unpleasant or overly greasy. I have actually used it as hair styling mud, which works quite well.
Although I did not suffer any breakouts (and I'm prone to them) I could see that happening with some people. The company claims the product does not cause breakouts, but if you have problems you may wish to use a separate product on your face or other sensitive areas.
